Steps to the Camino

Hello Family and Friends!

As some of you may know, I have decided to walk the Camino de Santiago Compestela this summer during the month of July and into early August. This is an 800km journey from the border of France and Spain to the west coast of Spain. This camino is a centuries old pilgrimage dating back to the days of St. James and is often referred to as the 'Way of St. James.'

I have decided to start a blog to keep in contact with all those interested in my journey from its planning stages to the actual pilgrimage itself. I will be using this blog as a journal to help me remember a journey that I am sure is not only going to be a once in a lifetime opporutnity, but also a life changing experience.

This first entry shows a map of the journey I will be embarking on. I will be leaving from St. Jean Pied and walking to Santiago through the Pyrennes, Pamplona, and Leon. My Camino will done in stages ranging from 19km to 30km a day and through varying types of landscape. The first take will take me through the breathtaking Pyrennes and over the French-Spanish border. It is my hope that I will be able to share with you all that I see and experience as I walk. I have also included some links of the Camino for you to peruse. These links show the route, explain the history behind the pilgrimage and include pictures taken by other pilgrims.

I will take all of you with me in my heart and mind and I know that you will be with me in spirit. It is a long journey, but one filled with excitement, new acquaintances and hope. Thanks for coming along with me!

Buen Camino,

Tammy
